Pier Park North in Panama City Beach, Florida
At the time of writing this post, construction is almost complete on the brand new Pier Park North development. Located on Back Beach Road, in Panama City Beach, FL.
Pier Park North is a 370,000-square-foot shopping center, that will compliment Pier Park, located just across the road.
This continues a growing trend towards significant new developments taking place out on the West end of Panama City Beach. Moving new growth away from the more crowded and hectic East-end, near the intersection of Wal Mart, and Ripley’s Museum.
Humble Beginnings
Pier Park North started to take shape in early 2013, where a “Coming Soon” sign was all you could see as you drove by the huge site.
Before long, tarmac was laid, and construction began; leading up the the first store opening in April of 2014; Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Big Names
Some of the other proposed stores include other major retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Michael’s, Kirkland’s, Pier 1 Imports, Ross, Shoe Carnival, Rooms to Go and PetSmart. Outparcel plans include Men’s Warehouse, Mattress Firm, Joe’s Crab Shack, Texas Roadhouse, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, Verizon Wireless, and Chipotle Mexican Grill.
The dust hasn’t settled on the construction of Pier Park North yet, and already there are discussions about Pier Park West – the parcels of land to the west of the existing Pier Park Shopping center.
The West End Trend
A new addition to Pier Park of a Dave & Busters, and the XD Darkride Experience, continues the trend of exciting new developments taking place on the preferred West-end of Panama City Beach.
It wasn’t long ago that Panama City Beach Harley opened up on the West end of the beach. Being closer to State Road 30A, Frank Brown Park, and being more conveniently accessible to the International Airport, makes the West-end of Panama City Beach much more desirable.
