Rain, Rain Go Away…
It doesn’t rain often in Panama City Beach. In fact, with over 300 days of sunshine per year, you can officially consider yourself pretty unlucky if it rains during your vacation. But, when it does rain here, boy does it rain…
Our list of FUN Things To Do in Panama City Beach When it’s Raining was mostly a list of fun indoor Panama City Beach attractions. We hadn’t considered ranking them in order of price or value.
They are all still excellent ways to beat the weather. So if you haven’t already seen the list we highly recommend you check it out.
But maybe you’re on a budget. Or maybe you just don’t want to have to spend hundreds of dollars because of the weather…
If so, then this list is for you.
Play Board Games in Your Room
Head to any big box store for this one. Board games and family games are pretty equally priced everywhere. We’ve checked a few of the bigger name games, and there’s not much difference at all.
They will of course have all the classic board games mom and dad grew up with, like Monopoly for example.
But board games are experiencing a bit of a resurgence, and is now a pretty big business. You’ll find some pretty cool strategy games and more casual party to chose from.
We like this tip a lot, because these games will have a longer lasting appeal, and nobody is at an advantage since the game is new to the whole group. Plus you get to take the game(s) home with you too. So unlike paying an admission for a one-time experience somehwere, you now own this.
Depending on the ages of the kids (or if grandma is with you) we like Cards Against Humanity (not a sponsor) for a lot of laughs as a party game.
But there are LOTS Of great age-appropriate choices for all ages.
Extra Savings Tips
- Use any discounts you might have available to save even more. The Target Red card gets you 5% off all purchases for example.

Say Cheese!
Edit your current (sunny day) vacation photos on your phone using awesome free apps.
Then you can post them to your social media accounts! Nobody back home will have any idea that it’s actually raining today in Panama City Beach.
The best part about this tip, is that it’s 100% free! Although, the amount of time spent avoiding the rain this buys you is on the lower-end.
Hopefully you have had some awesome fun (sunny) days of vacation already in the bag. Your phone is full of great photos of the family having a blast.
You can get some amazing free apps to edit photos directly on your phone, and post them to all your favorite social media accounts.
People following you will assume they were taken today, and nobody will know you’re actually sat in your Hotel room trying to stay dry!
Some of our favorite photo editing apps are: Photoshop Elements, Snapseed, and VSCO. These apps all have free versions that let you take average photos to the next level!

Window Shopping Around Pier Park.
If it’s a light enough rain, you could pack up the fmaily and wander around the shops in pier park, ducking and running to the next place as you go.
Of course, if it’s raining too heavy, this idea might not work out, or you could risk being stranded away from the car. If that happens, there’s an unwritten rule that dad has to fetch the car, and pick everybody else up. Thanks dad 🙂
Pier Park has some excellent stores to spend a lot of time just browsing. Like the As Seen On TV store, a store that sells different intensities of hot sauce. Yes, if you are brave enough you can sample them.
Disclaimer: If you have limited self-control, this strategy to beat the rain and save money could backfire. It could turn into a pretty expensive way to beat the rain if you end up making a lot of purchases! (You have been warned) 🙂

Dollar Store Scavenger Hunt
For just a few bucks, here’s a different way to make some fun family memories and stay dry!
Panama City Beach is home to some wonderful “Everything Under a Dollar” stores.
Give everybody $5 and 30 minutes and make up your own scavenger hunt game.
Who can find the tackiest PCB souvenir? The classiest? The biggest bargain?
Make a list of categories, and set everybody lose to hunt for those items.
The best part, everybody wins!
You’ll have some truly “magnificent” souvenirs to take home with you. They may seem gloriously tacky, but the fun memories they bring back will be priceless.

Stay at a Your Resort!
Our favorite way is to spend no extra money whatsoever.
If you have chosen to stay in a Resort which has lots of additional amenities included in the price of your stay.
If you planned ahead, then this means that even on rainy days you’re completely covered!
Indoor pools, a lazy river, indoor arcade, pool tables, table tennis, planned family games and contests in the Tiki Bar…
All these are fun ways you can happily spend a rainy day right there at the Sandpiper Beacon Beach Resort, and not have to spend an extra penny.
